We’ve all heard of the 5 Love Languages, but did you know they apply just as much to your plants as they do to your human relationships? Whether you’re a solo plant parent or you’re sharing your collection with a partner, understanding how you "speak" plant love can change your whole perspective on care.
Inspired by our latest TikTok post (check it out HERE), we’re breaking down how to express your devotion to your greenery in five unique ways.
For some, love is a tangible gesture. In the plant world, this is the classic "I saw this and thought of you."
- The Vibe: Bringing home a surprise plant for a friend or treating yourself to that variegated Monstera you’ve been eyeing.
- How to Speak It: It’s all about the presentation! A plant with a ribbon or a beautiful new ceramic pot can turn a "purchase" into a "gift."
This is showing love through labor that makes life easier for your plants.
- The Vibe: Spending a Sunday afternoon repotting your plants or going around cleaning off any dusty leaves.
- How to Speak It: Grab a partner and turn repotting into a shared activity!
It might sound crazy, but positive energy and a beautiful plant collection are a great combo.
- The Vibe: Telling your plant it’s doing a great job, or leaving a "don't forget to drink!" sticky note on a thirsty plant.
- How to Speak It: Leave little care notes or "love letters" on your plants' pots. It’s a cute way to remind yourself of the care each plant needs.
Sometimes, the best thing you can do for your plants, and even your mental health, is simply to be near them.
- The Vibe: Setting up a cozy reading chair in your sunniest plant corner and spending an hour just soaking in the green.
- How to Speak It: Create a "digital-free zone" in your home where your plants are the main attraction. Turn off the phone and just exist in the mini-ecosystem you’ve built.
Plants may not hug back, but they definitely respond to a gentle touch.
- The Vibe: Pruning away dead leaves, wiping dust off the foliage so they can breathe, and checking the soil for pests.
- How to Speak It: Use a soft damp cloth to clean your leaves once a month. This helps with photosynthesis and lets you inspect the health of the plant up close. We recommend our in-house Plant Protect spray for this, which cleans the leaves while also being a pest preventative.
Maybe you’re an "Acts of Service" person who loves repotting, or a "Quality Time" parent who just wants to be near your plants. Whatever your style, lean into it this season!
