Some plant jobs are easier with an extra set of hands and a bench full of soil. That is the Plant Bar at Over Grown, a hands-on counter inside our Westerville and Dublin shops where you can repot a plant, build a succulent or cactus garden, or get a second opinion on a plant that has you stumped.
Maybe you have a Monstera bursting out of its pot. Maybe you would rather not buy three separate bags of soil components and then chase dirt out of your apartment carpet. Either way, the Plant Bar is built for you. It works as a workbench, a plant clinic, and a custom styling counter in one spot, so you get expert guidance without the mess at home.
What Is the Plant Bar at Over Grown?
The Plant Bar is a dedicated counter in both Over Grown shops: 10 N State Street in Westerville and 46 S High Street in Dublin's Historic Bridge Street district. You sit at the bench with our team, and we supply the soil blends, materials, containers, and hands-on know-how.
That means no guessing which soil to buy, and no wrestling a top-heavy plant upright with one hand while you fill the planter with the other. We run three services at the bench: repotting, a succulent garden, and a cactus garden. If your plant is too big to wrestle onto a counter, drop it off and we will do the work for you.

What to Bring to Your Garden Building Plant Bar Session
You do not need much, so, here is the short list:
- Your own creativity.
- A vague idea of what you want it to look like.
- Any friends you’d like to share the experience with.
What to Bring to Your Repot Plant Bar Session
You do not need much, so, here is the short list:
- Your plant, in its current pot. Leave it in the container it came in so we can check the soil and roots as they are.
- A decorative planter, if you have one you love. It needs a drainage hole (our guide to choosing the right pot explains why). If yours does not have one, we can plant in a nursery pot and set that inside your decorative vessel. No planter at all? We sell pots in both shops.
- A photo of where the plant lives. Snap the nearest windows and light sources. We use it to tailor care advice to your actual space, not a generic one.
How to Book a Plant Bar Session in Westerville or Dublin
Booking happens on our website.
- Open the Plant Bar tab. Click Plant Bar in the main menu at the top of the site.
- Pick your service. Choose Repotting, Succulent Garden, or Cactus Garden. Occasionally we’ll also have seasonal offerings.
- Choose your location, date, and time. We run the Plant Bar in both Westerville and Dublin, so pick the shop and the slot that fit your week.
- Confirm and show up. Enter your details, stop in at your scheduled time, and get creative. If it’s a repot, we will handle the heavy lifting.
Walk-ins are welcome whenever bench space is open. Booking ahead is how you guarantee dedicated one-on-one time with our team, with no waiting.
When a Plant Bar Visit Beats Doing It at Home
Repotting at home works fine for a quick job on a small plant. A Plant Bar visit is the better call in these cases:
- You want to skip the mess. No soil bags taking up storage space, no spilled perlite on the carpet, and no cleanup when you leave.
- Your plant is giant or awkward. A big Monstera, a tall fiddle leaf fig, or a trailing vine with long runners is easier on you and safer for the plant with two people.
- You need a chunky mix. Orchid bark, coarse perlite, and charcoal come in separate large bags. At the Plant Bar you get fresh, custom-blended mixes by the scoop, and our guide to all three OG soil mixes shows which one suits your plant.
- You are nervous about the roots. If you worry about damaging them, or you cannot tell how much rot to trim, having someone guide you through it takes the guesswork out. Our post on how to catch root rot early shows what to look for.
